I;m in a Jazz Concert now!

Yes Im writing this blog in a Jazz concert now; a nicen little jazz band is playing. glistering lights shine upon them. Four palm trees are on the side of the little stage. It is the Holmes lounge; a place for students here at washington university to" eat and read". Everything looks fabulous.

This is my first semester here, and Yes I transfered. In a super hot august day I ,dragged two of my almost overweighted luggages, came here after a slow yet quick decision to be here. In the Airport some frat guy helped me out by giving me a free fare ticket. That's how i got here, aimlessly, knowing nobody. Later that night my "future apartmentmate" helped me out and I stayed with his family in an uppermiddleclass (best adjective i can find here) hotel. Then I began my orientation and whatnot. So far so good. First time felt of the hospitality of the midwest.

I live in an apartment 2 blocks away from campus. Have my own room. Two giant living room and a full kitchen. My apartmentmate and I sometimes use this fabulous home setting to feed ourselves some delicaccies which includs ramen, chef boyardee and instant pizza. Oh, chips too. Open the door in the kitchen you'll find yourself in the firecase/balcony. I'm really glad that we have this area. Good for grill, chat with friends, or just simply watching the moon and soak yourself into this tranquility.

Every morning I walk pass through a cafe shop, a giant parking lot to get to campus in about 5-10 minutes. Not a nice walk, especially the parking lot part, which is the worst. Then I get to the school. A very classical campus. Reddish brick stones, Arches, and sometimes gargoyles who are burned black. Maybe it was due to the gas light they use before. Interior of the building are, to the contrary, very modern. Being used to the concreat cement building in binghamton, a classical version of campus is maybe the biggest retreat for me. I remember when I dragged my luggages the first day climbing up the stairs to the quad, seeing the sunset with swallows flying between two towers, it made me feel goooood.

Other than the physical appearance, we all know what's more important is the rest of it, the invisible part such as educational quality, student environment et cetera. For now as a newbie to school, and living an out of the way location (my building is antisocial! geez), I start slow on making friends still. But I hope everything is going to be well.

miscellenous: I got my new laptop and tried 3 weeks to configure everything, thanks to my friend Natan and a CS graduate student i met online. I kept participating in couchsurfing, hosted two groups of amazing people. Chris and Alexis from Vegas came in for a weekend concert in Saint Louis. Three of us snuck on a freshman trip to the gateway arch and made perfect freshman faces. Daniel and Lasse from Denmark passed by from San Fran to Guatemala during their trip in the Americas. hmm. movies. La Haine and La Dolce Vita. Strongly recommend. Now I want to go back to the concert, ciao.
